The small church of Agia Theodora is located near the village of Vasta in Arcadia, in a beautiful natural landscape.
What makes it really special are the 17 large trees emerging from its roof, while their roots are not visible inside the temple. At the same time, waters well up from under its foundations, creating an impressive scene.
This special phenomenon, combined with the tradition and history of Agia Theodora, has made the small church one of the most famous pilgrimage and nature worship destinations in Arcadia.
The visit to Agia Theodora Vasta combines a pilgrimage, history and contact with nature, in a landscape of unique beauty.
We depart at 07:50 in the morning from the Constitution and at 08:00 from Omonia. On our route we will make an intermediate stop in Artemisio for coffee and breakfast.
Next, we head towards Megalopolis and the village of Vasta, where we will visit the famous church of Agia Theodora.
This small church is an impressive sight, as on its roof they have grown 17 big trees, without their roots being visible inside the temple. At the same time, water gushes from under the church and ends up in the small river of the area.
According to tradition, shortly before her martyrdom, Saint Theodora prayed that her hair would become trees and her blood water to water them. This tradition has connected the small church and the unique natural landscape that surrounds it with the miracle of Agia Theodora.
We will have free time for pilgrimage, tour and eat at a tavern of your choice.
In the afternoon we will depart for Athens, making a stopover for coffee.
