Gathering at the airport El. Venizelos and flight to Warsaw. Arrival in the capital of Poland. Board the bus and depart for Poland's impressive first capital, Krakow. It is one of the oldest cities in Poland, of the greatest cultural ones, artistic and touristic centers of Europe, and is fortunately untouched by the destruction of the second world war. On the following tour we will visit the Jewish neighborhood, Kazimierz, with the seven synagogues, we will see the impressive Royal Castle on Babel Hill, the Cathedral with the Royal Tombs and the Bell, the Jagiellonian University and Europe's largest medieval square with the Mariatski Church. Dedicated to the Virgin Mary, is the temple where the -you are canonized now- Pope John Paul II was a long-time vicar before becoming the city's bishop and later a cardinal. From the bell tower of the imposing church, every one hour, a trumpeter specially assigned for this purpose plays a melody that spreads throughout the square. And the renaissance Sukienice building, in the center of the square, the center of the textile trade for centuries, will pique our interest. Afternoon free to wander the narrow streets of the city, and enjoy food and drink in the dozens of bars and restaurants that flood its central square. Overnight.
Breakfast at the hotel and visit to the famous Wieliczka salt mines, just 15 km. from the center of Krakow, that have a history 700 years and more than 300 kilometers of underground galleries. A portico has even been transformed into a chapel in honor of the Blessed King, patron saint of miners. The "salt carved" church has been carved, entirely, by the salt miners themselves who even made the chandeliers out of salt crystals. Return to Krakow. "Auschwitz" is the German name for the Polish city of Oswiecim, about 60 kilometers northwest of Krakow, where the Nazis turned the old military facilities into the most horrific concentration camp. What shocks the visitor, after crossing the threshold with the cynical inscription "Arbeit macht Frei"(work is liberating), it is the method, the intensive study of the processes and the construction of such infrastructures, to ensure maximum efficiency in this project. Our visit today requires a strong stomach, especially when we will be in front of the exhibits with personal items, small shoes and children's clothes, many of which were of infant age, when they were murdered. The highly organized museum is highly instructive and serves as a serious warning about the dangers of totalitarianism and fanaticism of all shades.

On our panoramic tour we will start our first acquaintance with the Polish capital through the picturesque Old Town, one of the most beautiful restored historical centers in Europe. We will walk along the cobbled streets, we will see the colorful Renaissance buildings and well-preserved walls that surround the area. We will pass by the Market Square with its traditional cafes and small shops with local products, we will see the imposing Royal Palace and Castle Square, landmark of the city. On our route we will meet historical churches, monuments and scenic spots ideal for photos. Free years for a walk by the walls or for a coffee with a view of the Vistula river, enjoying the rhythm of the city. Then transfer to our hotel and settling in the rooms. Overnight.
Breakfast at the hotel. Our acquaintance with the city begins with Laziensky Park. Designed in the 17th century, the largest green lung of the city, has a total area 760 acres and contains flower gardens, monuments dedicated to gods and artists (Chopin's monument stands out, around which musical events are organized), fountains, lakes, auditoriums, paths and bridges. We continue with the old city of Warsaw which is surrounded by fortifications and is on the list of universal cultural heritage of. We will see the Agora square, the Royal Palace, the Castle Square Plac Zamkowy, of the few places that were saved from the Nazi rampage, the monumental Palace of Culture and Sciences, Stalin's gift to Warsaw, as well as the Wielki Theatre, which houses the Opera and the Ballet. Our next stop is the Jewish Ghetto, with the monument to the Martyrs of Nazi atrocities and the new state-of-the-art museum of Jewish History. Running through a series of major boulevards and passing through the post-Stalinist modern city center, we reach the square of the Castle. This is an enjoyable ride known as the 'mile', which will bring us in front of the most important monuments and the most beautiful buildings of Warsaw. The Church of Agia Anna and the Holy Cross stand out, the Temple of the Carmelites, the Presidential Palace, the Kazimierz Palace, the historic and luxurious Bristol Hotel, the National Library, the impressive University building and Warsaw Castle, while a little further on we will approach the home of the Nobel laureate, Marie Kozlofka Curie. Free time. Transfer to Warsaw airport for our return to Athens.
