Midday departure and with intermediate stops for coffee and rest we will reach the northwestern tip of Greece, Igoumenitsa. Time to eat on an individual schedule, transfer to the port and boarding the ship. Settlement and by gun for Italy at about 21:30. Overnight on board.
Arrival in the afternoon at the port of Ancona, boarding the coach and transfer to the city center with time for lunch at leisure. Then departure for Bologna where we will arrive after about three hours. Check in at our hotel and rest. Overnight.
After breakfast, we depart for the magnificent Lake Garda, the largest and most impressive lake in the country. Our first stop is Sirmione, a picturesque town built on a narrow peninsula jutting deep into the lake. We will admire the imposing Scaligeri castle with its characteristic battlements, which appears to emerge from the water, and we will tour the straits, flowery alleys of the old town. We will have free time to enjoy the view of the turquoise waters or visit the ruins of the Roman villa Grotte di Catullo. Next, we are heading to Verona, the city of "eternal lovers", of one of Italy's best-preserved historic cities and a Unesco World Heritage Site. During our tour, we will be impressed by the Verona Arena, the famous Roman amphitheater that dominates Piazza Bra. We will walk to Piazza delle Erbe, the old town market with the Renaissance buildings, and of course we will visit the Capulet Mansion to see the famous Juliet's balcony. We will also pass by the Cathedral and the Piazza dei Signori with the statue of Dante in the center. A short distance away are the impressive Scaligeri Tombs, the ornate Gothic tombs of the family that ruled Verona during the Middle Ages. Then free time for lunch and a stroll along the Via Mazzini shopping street. Early afternoon boarding the coach and return to our hotel. Free time and overnight stay.
Buffet breakfast and drive north to visit the "hidden protagonist" of Italian art Padua in the heart of the Veneto. The city, of course, beyond art, it can and does combine history and religious tradition with youthful energy in a masterful way. Priceless monuments include the artistic gem Cappella degli Scrovegni and Giotto's frescoes, the imposing Basilica of Saint Anthony, το Prato della Valle, το Palazzo della Ragione, the botanical garden and of course its great University founded the 1222. Here we will enjoy our morning coffee and continue to Venice, known for its carnival and gondolas. The sights and images we will see are enough to understand why this is a city unique in the world. Every channel is a road, every building is a work of art and every corner bears witness to history. From the bustling Rialto market to the charming bacari, from the famous Doge's Palace to the Academy of Arts and from St. Mark's Basilica to the famous square of the same name, Venice offers a feast for the senses that we will experience. After our tour we will have time for individual walking and photos, gondola ride and food. Early afternoon departure for our return to the hotel. Rest and our evening free. Overnight.
Buffet breakfast at our hotel and departure for the full day tour in Florence, the capital of Tuscany. The city where the Renaissance was born, the city of the Medici, of Dante and Michelangelo, the city of art and architecture. For Italians, the most romantic city in the country. Arriving, after a journey of about two hours, We will walk through the historic center and see up close the Piazza de la Signoria and the Palazzo Vecchio, the church of Santa Croce with the tombs of Dante and Galileo, the famous Ponte Vecchio and the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore with its iconic dome and historic Baptistry. Next, after our tour, we will have enough free time at our disposal for both a walk and a coffee in the amazing haunts of the locals, as well as to try the wonderful food of Florence. Late afternoon departure for our return to our hotel in Bologna. Rest and our evening free to move in an individual program in the city of Bologna. Time for dinner and overnight.
Buffet breakfast at our hotel and today we will visit a special state, within the state of Italy, UNESCO World Heritage Site. After the unification of the country the 1871 as we know it today, a rocky community San Marino, it remained independent and remains so to this day. Also, this enclosed microstate of the 61,16 sq. km, officially the Serene Republic of San Marino (Most Serene Republic of San Marino), it is the oldest Constitutional Republic in the world. In Freedom Square where we will meet, Palazzo Pubblico is located, a neo-Gothic building that houses the state government, while very close is the State Museum with archaeological findings from the Neolithic era to Byzantium. At the edge of the city is the famous neoclassical basilica of Agios Marinos, while particular attractions are the Wax Museum and the Museum of Strange Objects (B.C. clocks that every hour have a different smell!). Time for a walk and coffee and departure for the port of Ancona. Boarding the ship and at 19:30 from a gun for Igoumenitsa. Overnight on board.
At dawn we will be on the boat to Igoumenitsa. Arrival approx 18:00 and time in port for lunch. Then boarding the coach and immediate departure for Athens with intermediate stops for rest. Overnight stay on the way.
In the early hours of the morning, at about 02:00 in the early mornings, we will arrive in Athens.
