We leave for the Excursion to Salamina 08:00 in the morning by consensus. After our arrival in Nea Peramos we board the boat bound for the mythical Saronic island of Salamina. Salamina, which in ancient times was called Koulouri, is the largest island of Argosaronicos. Our first visit will be to Panagia Faneromeni where we will have time for a pilgrimage, then we will visit the House of the Greek poet Angelos Sikelianos, where he lived from 1933 until the 1950 and Salamis was a place of inspiration for him and his masterpieces. Subsequently, traversing an amazing coastal route, we will end up in Selenia, where we will have free time to swim in the turquoise waters of the area and have lunch. Later we will take the way back from Palukia to Perama. Arrival in Athens in the evening with the best impressions.
Excursion to Salamis:
According to legend, the name Salamina was given to the island by Cychrea in honor of his mother Salamina, one of the five daughters of the river god Asopus. The ancient port of her port contributed significantly to the economic development of the ancient city of Salamis. The famous naval battle of Salamis also took place there. The most important monasteries in the area are the Monastery of Faneromeni, Agios Nikolaos Kalyvitis and the Church of Agios Dimitrios. If you want to swim, visit the south side of the island, where the beaches are cleaner. The most popular beaches are Selenia, the Kanakias, the Manifested, the Satterly and the Evil Vigla.
