Excursion to Byzantine Ohrid October 28

Breakfast and departure for the Byzantine monastery of Saint Naum on the south side of the lake, with dozens of peacocks roaming freely in his gardens. Built in the 10th century, when the whole area was the seat of the Greek Orthodox archdiocese, it has amazing wall paintings. The Greek monks Cyril and Methodius started from the monastery of Saint Naum, to teach the Slavs the alphabet (Cyrillic) and the Bible. Then we will continue to the old town of Ohrid where we have a lot to admire. At the upper gate of the fortified old town we will first visit a 13th century religious monument of great interest, the Cathedral of Panagia Peribleptou, one of the most important medieval monuments of Macedonia.
