We leave for the Excursion to Meteora October 28th 07.30 in the morning from Omonia. We make a coffee stop at the height of Agios Konstantinos and continue to Meteora, located in the northwest of the Thessalian plain in the city of Kalambaka. Meteora is a unique place and is a top travel destination in the Autumn season. The 1988 Meteora was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Arms of Meteora are a natural wonder that fascinates young and old, were formed many centuries ago and exceed in height 600 meters. Many hermits found refuge in Meteora, establishing one of the most important monastic communities in Greece. Enjoying the route of Meteora, we reach the monastery of Agios Stefanos. The Monastery was founded by Antonio Kantakouzenos, the son of the Despot of Epirus Nikephoros II in 1400 A.D . After our time at the monastery we continue to Trikala where we will have free time to explore the local area and enjoy our lunch in town with (Individual Expenses). Upon our arrival in the city, we meet the Letheos River which is a tributary of Pinios and according to mythology the son of Lethes, crosses Trikala giving a magical note. We also suggest you browse the Old Grocery Stores, the second district of the old town of Trikala. Then we depart for Mouzaki Palace 4****. At the hotel we will have time to arrange the rooms and rest. For anyone who wishes to suggest a visit to the inner heated pool or the use of sauna, and the gym, Free for excursion customers. In the evening, dinner follows in the hotel room. End Overnight
Breakfast at our hotel in Kalambaka overlooking the imposing cliffs of Meteora and departure for the traditional Metsovo, one of the most picturesque mountain destinations of Epirus. Arrival and free time to browse the cobbled streets, admiring the mansions with the traditional Epirus architecture and the central square with the shops of local products. In Metsovo it is possible to visit local cheese factories to try the famous Metsovo cheeses. In addition you can enjoy your lunch ( optional ) in a traditional tavern with authentic flavors of the region. Afterward, departure for return with an intermediate stop for coffee and relaxation at its height Lamias.
Finally we return in the evening to our Athens, full of beautiful images of the natural beauty of Epirus and the best memories from the special Two-Day Excursion to Meteora October 28
