We leave for the Excursion to Meteora October 28th 08.00 in the morning from Omonia. Our first stop for coffee is at the height of Lamia. Then we take the road to Trikala, which are the capital of the prefecture, city of Asclepios and Tsitsanis. There we will have free time to tour and admire the Litheos river, the Kursum mosque and walk the pedestrian streets. We recommend an optional lunch at the old greengrocers with traditional recipes. Then we depart for Kalambaka, a modern city with picturesque squares, open roads and developed tourist infrastructure. In Kalambaka we will have accommodation in the hotel rooms and free time for rest. In the evening there will be dinner at a local tavern near the hotel. End Overnight
After our breakfast we will depart for Meteora. Their eerie stone cliffs embrace the beautiful town of Kalambaka with an awe-inspiring sight. In Meteora we will visit the Holy Monastery of Ag. Stefanos with free time for pilgrimage. Then we depart for the mountain resorts of Pindos and the villages of Koziakas. There we will visit the Gate, with Porta Panagia (Byzantine church) where it was built 1283 on the ruins of the temple of the goddess Athena. In addition, we will make a short stop at the bridge of Ag. Bessarion, which was built the 1514. Then we will visit Elati. The Switzerland of Greece as they call it spreads on the south-western slopes of Koziakas, in altitude 900 meters. It is built amphitheatrically, in the shadow of the imposing Red Rock, gazing at the surrounding peaks of South Pindos and is one of the most popular mountain resorts in Greece. Free time for lunch in the traditional taverns of the village with ΄(Individual Expenses). Finally we take the way back to Athens with the best impressions from the magical Meteora.
