We are leaving for the Excursion to Mycenae and Nafplio 08.00 in the morning from Omonia. Our first visit will be to the historical homeland of the Atreides, Mycenae. Mythical Greek Treasures such as the famous tomb of King Agamemnon and Clytemnestra, the Lion's Gate and the Cyclopean fortunes await us to explore. The Archaeological Museum of Mycenae hosts material from the excavations of the Acropolis with important information about the history of the place. Our next stop is Nafplio. In the first capital of Greece, we find ornaments such as the two Venetian castles, of Akronaflia and Palamidiou. Other attractions worth seeing or visiting are the Archaeological Museum of Nafplion, Syntagma Square, the rosary Museum and the prison of Kolokotronis, the historical Bourtzi. Then after a full day we will depart with a short coffee stop for our Athens.
Excursion to Mycenae and Nafplio:
Mycenae is a world-renowned destination with a rich historical background. One of the most important points of Mycenae is the Gate of Lions, which is the oldest example of monumental architecture in the whole of Europe. Dozens of findings have been excavated at the site, including bronze weapons, statuettes and gold jewelry housed today in the Archaeological Museum of Mycenae.
Nafplio is one of the most romantic cities in Greece. Geographically located on the eastern side of the Peloponnese, it impresses with a strong medieval style. It is also only a two-hour drive from Athens and is one of the most popular weekend destinations. The Old Town is a walking wonder with elegant mansions and large squares, while on the hill above the Old Town there is a strong fortress dating back to the Venetian era. The most popular tourist spot nearby is Tolo.
