We start our excursion in Kavala – Drama and Xanthi carnival with departure 08.00 in the morning from Omonia. Then we will make an intermediate stop for coffee and breakfast at the height of Lamia. Then we continue to the height of Larissa where we will have our next stop for lunch. After lunch we take the road for horseback through the Egnatia road. On the part of the beautiful route, we are lucky enough to admire two beautiful lakes, Koroneia and Volvi, before arriving at our hotel Esperia Hotel to settle in the rooms and rest. Afterwards we will have Free time to explore the beautiful city of Kavala with its crystal clear shores, the world heritage sites. Built amphitheatrically along the sea, at the crossroads of East and West, Kavala invites you to discover it and admire it illuminated and its castle. The entire citadel is built with rough local granite stones, mixed with pieces of brick and marble. Entering through its main entrance, you see that it is divided into inner and outer enclosure by a transverse wall. The inner enclosure was also the most important part of the acropolis, because it enclosed all the necessary spaces for its defense. Finally you can enjoy a drink at a bar restaurant with a special view of the entire city of Kavala before returning to the hotel for dinner and overnight.
After enjoying our morning meal we will depart for the Archaeological Site of Philippi at a distance of seventeen kilometers from Kavala. The first contact with the space was made on 1861 and completed the 1956 by Greek archaeologists. Important finds are the Egnatia street, the ruins of the Roman Agora, the "prison" of the Apostle Paul, as well as the ancient theater which has a circular orchestra and parados built in an isostructural manner. There is the Apostle Paul, in an idyllic location outside the city, on the banks of the Zygactis river, baptized the first European Christian woman, Saint Lydia and founded the first Christian church in Europe. Then we make our way to Drama, where we will have free time for city tour and lunch (optional). After enjoying the Drama we return to the hotel, for dinner and overnight.
After our morning meal we depart for Lake Vistonida, one of the most beautiful wetlands in Greece. Then we will visit the picturesque Porto Lagos, which is located at the point where Lake Vistonida joins the Thracian Sea. The hallmark of the village is the church of Agios Nikolaos, which is accessible via a wooden floating platform. Then we start for the city of Xanthi, the city of a thousand colors, sounds and life. In Xanthi we find restored houses of tobacconists and cobbled streets, which compose the stage where the romantic story of the Old Town takes place, which today is overwhelmed by songs and masquerades. The Carnival of Xanthi is embraced by frantic rhythms, happy carnival figures, ghostly chariots, dances in every alley, streamers and confetti, that will put us in the Halloween mood. At the Xanthi Carnival We will have enough time to enjoy the spectacular event and to have lunch in one of the many shops that exist. Later we return to the hotel to rest. and in the evening we are waiting for you celebratory dinner( The Halloween party with music, DJ and unlimited consumption of wines and soft drinks.
After our breakfast we depart for a short tour of the city by coach where we will see its arches, the Medieval Aqueduct, the monuments of the Byzantine period, the buildings of special architectural interest. Finally we take the way back with the best impressions from the trip to Kavala – Xanthi drama and carnival and a stopover for lunch and coffee.
