Cyprus excursion with Limassol Carnival
THE Cyprus is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world, with over 3 millions of visitors every year. THE Cyprus became a member of the European Union 2004 and the Eurozone 2008. There are many outdoor activities in Cyprus, whether you are traveling alone or with your family or friends. The island of love, as is the nickname of Cyprus, has some fantastic activities suitable for all ages and interests, whether you are a history buff or a nature lover, there is something for everyone.
Gathering at El Venizelos airport. Checking the tickets and boarding the plane to Cyprus. Arrival at Larnaca airport and transfer to the church of Ag. Lazarus. After breakfast we will depart for the capital of Cyprus, Nicosia. Our first stop is the Tomb of Makedonitissa Military cemetery and hero near the monastery of Makedonitissa. Officers and soldiers are buried here, who fell defending Cyprus during the invasion of the Turkish troops 1974. We continue our tour at the Prison Tombs area of the Central Prisons of Nicosia, in which they had been buried during the Liberation War 1955-59 the nine hanged by the English. To the right of the entrance are the tombs of the heroes and to the left the cells of the dead and the gallows on which the English executed the nine heroes. Then we will head to the most important and largest archaeological museum of Cyprus, where the visitor through the museum's collections can follow the evolution of the culture of Cyprus from the Neolithic era to the early Byzantine period. We continue with the archbishop's palace. Visit to the holy temple of Ioannis with the wonderful frescoes. Then the Venetian walls of old Nicosia, the People's Neighborhood and the green line that divides Nicosia into Greek and Turkish sectors. Free time for lunch and shopping. In the afternoon return to our hotel, dinner. Overnight.
After breakfast, departure to take a tour of the mountainous green resorts of Cyprus. We will stop at the thousand-sung Platres, also known from the poetry of Seferis. Crossing the Troodos mountain range, where is 1,750 meters from sea level, we will continue to the most well-known and richest monastery of Cyprus, the Holy Kykkou Monastery. After breakfast we will depart for a full day excursion to the beautiful Paphos City. Crossing the vast vineyards and orange groves of Fassouri, we reach the Knight's Tower in Kolossi. It was originally built in the 13th century but the building that you keep today dates back to the mid-15th century. We will take a guided tour of Kurio where it was an important ancient city-kingdom and is one of the most impressive archaeological sites in Cyprus. Then, passing through the English bases, we will stop for photos at Petra tou Romiou, where according to mythology it emerged from the foam of the waves, or goddess of beauty and Love, Venus. We continue our visit to the column where the Apostle Paul was scourged passing by Agia SOLOMONI which is considered as the chapel of the seven Sleepers and which was a pilgrimage for every Christian of the Middle Ages. Will visit, the mansion of Dionysios with its uniquely beautiful mosaics. We will end up at the beautiful port of Paphos with its magnificent fortress. Free time. Late afternoon return to the hotel. Dinner. Overnight.
