We are leaving for the Excursion Amfikleia and Cold Springs 08:00 in the morning from Omonia. Amfikleia is our first stop with the traditional settlement with its stone houses and picturesque cobbled alleys winning impressions. The neoclassical mansions, the well-preserved stone fountains and the beautiful squares with the many taverns are just a few of the many that we will encounter. Here we will have time to visit the Bread Museum located in the central square, to tour the village or to have our lunch. Then we continue to Livadeia and its magical cold springs. Pyges Kryas is a green landscape with running water and is an oasis for the area with small waterfalls and centuries-old plane trees. Regionally, one can find picturesque taverns and cafes to enjoy a drink combined with the view of the Springs. Finally, return to our Athens with the best impressions.
Excursion Amfikleia and Cold Springs:
The Cold Springs are a pole of attraction for visitors to Livadia and beyond. In the area of the sources of the river Erkyna (Hercyna was the beautiful daughter of Trophonius and a close friend of Persephone, who got lost looking for her lost goose), known as Cold. It is assumed that in ancient times the oracle of Trophonius Zeus with the sources of Forgetfulness and Memory was located here, which are mentioned by Pausanias. The area of Krya is the main place for recreation and walking for the residents of Livadeia, as well as the century-old plane trees, the abundant running water and the small waterfalls make up a landscape of particular natural beauty, which is harmoniously combined with the stone bridges and the restored buildings.
