Departure for the Kalavryta One-Day Excursion 08.00 the Morning from Omonia. First stop of half an hour at the height of Kiato for coffee and rest. Then we take the road to Kalavryta, where we will visit the historical Monastery of Agia Lavra and watch the reenactment on its feast day 1821. Afterwards we will have free time to tour the picturesque Kalavryta and have lunch. Then we will leave for the monastery of the Mega Cave which is "stuck" on a rock, in a landscape of beauty. Finally we will take the road back to our Athens, with a stopover for coffee.

Kalavrita is a small town on the northern side of the Peloponnese, in mainland Greece. It is mainly known for its recent history and is a symbol of freedom for Greece. The Greek Revolution was proclaimed here 1821, in the narrow monastery of Agia Lavra, and here occurred one of the most horrible holocausts, according to B’ World War.
The Great Cave is the Monastery, which is considered the oldest in Greece and was built in 362 A.D,by two brother monks, of Symeon and Theodore. While the two brothers were in Jerusalem, they each saw an apparition with the order to go to Achaia to find the Holy Icon of the Virgin Mary made of mastic and wax, crafted by the Evangelist Luke.
