We are leaving for the Three-Day Epiphany Excursion in Monemvasia Diros Cave and Gythio 07.00 in the morning by consensus. Our first stop will be in Artemisio, where we will have a short break for coffee and rest. Then we head to Monemvasia, one of the most impressive medieval settlements in Greece, known for its imposing castles, the well-preserved stone mansions, the house of the poet Yannis Ritsos and the historic Byzantine churches. Upon arrival we will have free time to explore, as well as an optional visit to the castle. You can also enjoy your lunch in one of the traditional taverns in the area. Later we depart for our hotel, Oasis Hotel 3* in Skala, where the rooms will be arranged and there will be time for rest or individual activities.
After our breakfast, we depart for the famous Diros Caves, one of the most impressive natural attractions of the Peloponnese. Followed by an optional visit with (individual expenses). There we will experience a unique journey to the wonder of nature: white stalactites and stalagmites decorate every part of the cave, creating a mesmerizing sight that takes your breath away. Full of images and impressions, we continue to the picturesque Limeni, a place of historical and unparalleled natural beauty, where we will have free time for a walk. Our next stop is the imposing Areopolis, the “eagle's nest” of Mavromichalei. There we will tour the preserved historical center, we will admire the 17 March square, the Temple of the Greatest Taxiarchs and we will enjoy local delicacies or our coffee in the traditional narrow streets, where time seems to have stopped, leaving indelible traces of another era. At the end of the day we return to our hotel unit.
After our breakfast we take the road to the picturesque Gythio, the ancient and modern port of Sparta. It is a beautiful city with a special charm, which stands out for its picturesque port and the neoclassical houses that spread amphitheatrically on the mountainside Akumaro and along the beach road. There we will have free time to watch the Consecration of the Waters in the port, as well as a beautiful walk along the promenade, admiring the neoclassical buildings and the natural landscape reminiscent of a Cycladic island.
After the ride, you can enjoy your lunch in some of the local taverns with (individual expenses). After we gather, we will take the way back, with an intermediate stop for coffee.
