We are leaving for the Excursion to Meteora 08:00 in the morning from Omonia. We stop for coffee at the height of Lamia and continue to the city of Trikala. Trikala is a model city for Greece and home of the ancient physician, Asclepius. In Trikala we will have free time to explore the local area and enjoy our lunch in the town with (Individual Expenses). The picturesque river Litheos which is a tributary of Pinios and according to mythology was the son of Lethe, crosses Trikala giving a magical note. There are many bridges that connect the two banks of the river with the most beautiful one built in 1886 in France. We also suggest you browse the Old Grocery Stores, the second district of the old town of Trikala. Then we depart for Mouzaki Palace 4****. At the hotel we will have time to arrange the rooms and rest. For those who wish, we recommend a visit to the indoor heated swimming pool or use of the sauna and the gym free of charge for the clients of the excursion. After breakfast we depart for Kalambaka. We recommend an optional visit to the mushroom museum. The Museum includes a rich collection of birds and mammals as well as a comprehensive mushroom museum. (The first of its kind in Greece). Inside, the Museum houses approx 350 species of animals and 250 types of mushrooms. The way of presenting the collections through dioramas, represents with absolute accuracy, the natural environment where animals grow and mushrooms grow. Then we leave for Meteora, located in the northwest of the Thessalian plain in the city of Kalambaka. Meteora is a unique place and is a top travel destination in the winter season. Additionally The 1988 Meteora was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The rocks of Meteora are a natural wonder that fascinates young and old. The Meteor Rocks were formed many centuries ago and exceed in height 600 meters. Many hermits found refuge in Meteora, establishing one of the most important monastic communities in Greece. Enjoying the route of Meteora, we reach the monastery of Agios Stefanos. The Monastery was founded by Antonio Kantakouzenos, the son of the Despot of Epirus Nikephoros II in 1400 A.D. . The monastery apart from the chapel of Agios Stefanos, it also has that of Agios Charalambos, in which his cart is also kept, which is considered miraculous. After our time at the monastery we continue to Kalambaka with free time for lunch with (Individual expenses).
