We are leaving for the Three-Day Excursion to Serres, Thessaloniki and Lake Kerkini 07.00 in the morning from Omonia. We make a stop for coffee at the height of Lamia and then visit the area of Korinos with an optional lunch. Continue to the city of Serres and the Elpida Resort hotel & Spa4 * located in an ideal location, the valley of Aghii Anargyri. The location combines the quiet of the countryside with the practicality of the center, located in the heart of the city and just 5 minutes from the center of Serres. After our arrival, we will settle into the hotel rooms, dinner and overnight stay.
After our breakfast, we visit the monastery of the Holy Forerunner which was founded in 1275 by bishop Ioannikios and is an amazing monument of Byzantine art. It was renovated several times, especially after the period of the Turkish occupation which saw several disasters. After we perform our pilgrimage, we take the road to N. Petritsi and Rupel's Fort. known to all of us for the resistance of the Greeks to the German divisions during the revolution. Then our route continues to the town of Kerkini and the lake of the same name. Kerkini Lake is a wonder of nature with flora, fauna but also a unique wetland in the northern part of the Strymonas valley protected by the Ramsar Convention. Those who wish can do Optional boating (weather permitting) and lunch.. In the afternoon we return to our hotel with free time for a walk or rest. End, Dinner and Overnight.
After breakfast we leave the city of Serres. Our next and last stop is the co-capital, the beautiful Thessaloniki. In Thessaloniki we visit the patron saint of the city, Agios Dimitrios, but we also take a walk in the park of the White Tower. Finally we take the way back to Athens with intermediate stops for food and coffee.
