We are leaving for the Excursion to Oropos and Theogennitoros Monastery 09,00 the Morning by consensus, with destination Avlona and the Monastery of Theogennitoros which celebrates the Sunday of the Myroforos. Every year on the feast day after the Divine Liturgy, followed by a litany where, with the accompaniment of the Philharmonic and the presence of units of the land army, they pay their respects, men and women dressed in traditional Pontic costumes. They hold the icon of the Virgin Mary, while a low-altitude helicopter showers the miraculous image and the world with flowers. It is said that the helicopter pilot performs this act every year as a fulfillment of a wish to the Virgin Mary for the salvation of his daughter. After the litany and after the Antidoro will be distributed to all the pilgrims , we depart for Oropos where we will have free time on its beach for lunch and coffee. Then return to Athens in the early afternoon.
