We are leaving for the Two-Day Excursion to Meteora and Kalambaka 08:00 in the morning from Omonia. The first stop we will make for coffee and breakfast is at the height of Lamia. Continue to Trikala with free time for a walk in the city center and optional lunch. Then we depart for our hotel unit Orfeas Hotel 3* in the center of Kalambaka to arrange the rooms and rest.
In the afternoon we visit the famous monastery of Agios Stefanos and the impressive Meteora, where we will watch the Greetings. Meteora is a unique geological phenomenon with giant rock formations, on the peaks of which historical Byzantine monasteries were built, hosting rare relics and remarkable frescoes.
These imposing rocks were created millions of years ago and reach a height that exceeds the 600 meters. Ascetics and hermits settled in the area, establishing one of the most important organized monastic communities in the country. Today, the monasteries of Meteora are the second most important monastic complex in Greece after Mount Athos. After completing the sequence of greetings, return to the hotel and stay overnight.
Breakfast at our hotel in Kalambaka overlooking the imposing cliffs of Meteora and departure for the traditional Metsovo, one of the most picturesque mountain destinations of Epirus. Arrival and free time to browse the cobbled streets, admiring the mansions with the traditional Epirus architecture and the central square with the shops of local products. In Metsovo it is possible to visit local cheese factories to try the famous Metsovo cheeses. In addition you can enjoy your lunch ( optional ) in a traditional tavern with authentic flavors of the region. Afterward, departure for return with an intermediate stop for coffee and relaxation at its height Lamias.
Finally we return in the evening to our Athens, full of beautiful images of the natural beauty of Epirus and the best memories from the special two-day excursion to the greetings in Meteora Metsovo Trikala and Kalambaka.
