We're leaving 07.00 in the morning from Omonia for the Excursion Ancient Olympia and Kyparissia. We make a stop at Artemisio for coffee and continue to Kyparissia. It is an amorphous town built amphitheatrically at the foot of Mount Aegaleo, while its area reaches the waters of the Ionian Sea. In Kyparissia we will have free time for sightseeing and an optional lunch at a tavern of your choice. Then we visit Lake Caiaphas. The Lake is next to the Sea, has thermal waters and its surface extends to 1500 acres. In the interior of the lake we find the islet of Agia Ekaterini and on its shores, the spa town of Caiaphas. There we will make a stop for commemorative photos and finally we will make our way to our hotel, Amalias Hotel 3* for arrangement in the Rooms, rest and dinner in the evening.
After breakfast we visit (optionally) the archaeological site of Ancient Olympia (admission free). The temples of Zeus and Hera around the sacred grove of Altis are impressive. In the archaeological site we also find the Rectorate with the Parliament where the administrative authorities of the Olympic Games were housed and took place in the Ancient Stadium and Museum of Olympia. The Museum also includes priceless finds from excavations in the sacred site of Altea. We continue to Pyrgos which is the capital of Ilia. In the city center we find some very beautiful neoclassical buildings, creations of the famous architect Ernesto Ziller. The Agora building is characteristic, which constitutes even today, the heart of the historic city center, and space where the city's Archaeological Museum operates, which houses important finds from all over Ilia. Pyrgos has an excellent market, many restaurants and Public Library, where one can find rare records and a wealth of reading. At Pyrgos we will have free time for sightseeing and lunch, Finally return to our hotel for rest and dinner accompanied by DJ music (Twelfth Night)
After breakfast we depart for the picturesque village of Palouki which is located on the western coast of the Peloponnese and every year on Theophany day it holds a special celebration. At 11 in the morning there will be the diving of the Holy Cross and the Sanctification of the waters at the fishing shelter of Paluki. There we will have free time for coffee and to watch the consecration of the waters. We continue to the seaside Katakolo. Katakolo It is a coastal town in western Ilia, in the area of ancient Feia. It has a strong traditional color and combines the beauty of mountain and sea. It is considered the port of Pyrgos and is located at the mouth of the bay of the same name, of the so-called Gulf of Pisces. East of the central square dominates the Temple of Agios Nikolaos and the Museum of Ancient Greek Technology where 250 approximately reliable and functional replicas of inventions of the ancient Greeks. Impressive and unscathed stands its lighthouse 1865 at the top of the hill which has been classified as a historical monument that is definitely worth visiting. In Katakolo we will have time for a tour and lunch in one of the picturesque taverns of the area. Finally we take the road back to our Athens with an intermediate stop for coffee.
