Sanctuary of Heraion

Tradition said that the goddess Hera was born and raised in this village. This is why a sanctuary was built to Hera (Great) In ancient times. The temple was destroyed in the 6th century BC. for an unknown reason. Its renovation was never completed. Later the sanctuary was converted into a Christian church.

Castle of Lykourgos Logothetis

This tower was built in the 19th century by Lykourgos Logothetis, leader of the Samos Revolution against the Turks. In the courtyard of the castle are two Roman arcades and a beautiful church.

Roman Baths

Just outside Pythagorion, on the way to the airport, there are the ruins of a large Hellenistic gymnasium. In Roman times this gymnasium was turned into a public bath.

Pythagorean Archaeological Museum

This collection is housed in the Town Hall of Pythagorion. Contains sculptures, inscriptions, statues and tomb fragments dating from the Archaic and Roman periods.

Samiopoula Island

Its name means "little Samos" and it is easily accessible from the ports of Pythagoreion and Marathokampos Bay. Its beauty attracts many visitors who come to relax on the two sandy beaches.

Cave of Pythagoras

This cave is where the famous mathematician Pythagoras hid when his political opponents were hunting him. It is located on a steep cliff near Marathokampos, on the west side of the island.

Windsurfing

Although Samos is quite windy in the summer, windsurfing is not so developed. There are only a few windsurfing centers in Samos, which are mainly located on the north side of the island. These centers offer lessons for all levels and rent the appropriate equipment. The best spots for windsurfing in Samos are Kokkari, the beach of Agios Konstantinos and Tsamadou, where strong northerly winds blow in summer.

The best bars of Samos

On the eastern side of the Aegean, Samos is a wonderful island that offers many entertainment options.
